Twenty-nine years ago, two hopeful post-grads met in Dr. Grant's "Foundation of Education" graduate class at the University of North Florida. April was already teaching at a business school and was transitioning to teaching GED in the pre-trial detention facility in the evenings, and advising college students during the day, while Randy was seeking a teaching certification in Mathematics. Two years later they married, combined their love of education, and began their teaching journey together.
They set off on a tour to the newly independent country of Latvia, formerly part of the USSR, as part of a team conducting seminars for parents and teachers who were interested in incorporating a Christian Ethics and Morality curriculum in their classrooms. Upon returning, Randy began teaching math in the public schools and April returned to teaching GED through the local community college. Eventually, they would have two children whom they would homeschool through high school while working both full and part-time and administering a homeschool physical education program for their local community.
Expedited Virtual Learning Services was birthed from a vision 7 years ago as they struggled with their myriad of duties as working parents and home educators, to get their own children through their educational programs. Both children would eventually earn full academic scholarships to their respective colleges and move on to their own educational pursuits, freeing the couple to fully pursue this vision of providing support to parents and students in need.
